Our puppies are priced at $700-$1200 (male or female).
All of our puppies are AKC registered, microchipped, and placed with a spay/neuter contract ONLY. WE WILL NOT SHIP OUR PUPPIES...
We are located near Fort Wayne, IN.
If you are not able to keep a puppy you purchase from us, for any reason, you must agree to return the puppy to us, or allow us to find a suitable home for him.
Happy to be AKC inspected and in compliance with their Rules and Regulations! Our last inspection was 8/20/07.
HELP KEEP THE "PURE" IN PUREBRED DOGS!!!!!!!
PLEASE BE SURE THE PUPPY YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS FOR, IS AKC REGISTERED...the litter must be registered by the breeder before you take your puppy!!
Visit the American Kennel Club website at www.akc.org to verify the following information!
The AMERICAN KENNEL CLUB (AKC) is the oldest, most respected registry of purebred dogs. If you are paying "top dollar" for a puppy advertised as being AKC registered, be sure that it is. AKC requires that you receive from the seller, at the time you receive your puppy, either the actual "Dog Registration Application", or a Bill of Sale which states among other things, the Sire and Dam's AKC Registered Names and Numbers. Just because the parents are Registered DOES NOT mean the puppy you are buying is or can be…be sure the breeder includes the AKC Litter Registration Number on the Bill of Sale.
In October, 2003, AKC instituted an On line Litter Registration Service available to all breeders (there is no charge for the service). A litter's Registration Number is available to the breeder within 5 minutes of application! The actual papers are mailed to the breeder the next day.
Be wary of a breeder who complains that AKC's "fees" are so high, they prefer to use another registry. The number of litters a breeder registers (7 in a calendar year) determines when they will be inspected by AKC...not registering your litters with AKC is a means of avoiding inspection.
Following is AKC's fee schedule which applies to ALL breeders:
$25 Litter Application Fee
$ 2 per Puppy
A litter of 2 puppies costs the breeder $29 to register. A litter of 10 puppies costs the breeder $45 to register.…….PERIOD
It will cost you, the puppy's new owner, $20.00 to register your puppy with AKC. If your puppy is not registered by its breeder (who must register the entire litter), it cannot be registered by you...be sure to get your puppy's "Registration Application" at the time you pick up your puppy, or in some cases (if there is a contract) when proof of the puppy's spay/neuter is given to his breeder. Some breeders (including CASAN's) require their puppies to be spayed or neutered. It is acceptable to AKC for the "Registration Application" to be withheld until proof of the spay/neuter is received…however the Bill of Sale must be accurate and complete, including the litter registration number, and it must be given to you when you receive your puppy. Be sure your are getting what you think you are, and definitely what you are paying for. Buy only from reputable breeders and help put the puppy-mills, pet stores and brokers out of business.
Any male that sires 3 litters in a calendar year, or 7 litters in a lifetime, MUST be DNA Certified by AKC (this is strictly for identification purposes and has NOTHING TO DO WITH HEALTH). A breeder must pay a onetime fee of $35.00 for this service. This certification is a requirement, not an option...(it helps maintain the integrity of the AKC and the high standards that are expected and implied)!!!
THAT'S IT…there are no other fees, so the puppy you are paying hundreds of dollars for, cost the breeder about $10.00 to register with AKC. (The cost of the DNA Certification for the stud can be pennies once it is amortized over the number of puppies he produces in his lifetime).
AKC has a few strict rules and regulations that must be followed in order for a breeder to have the privilege of registering puppies with them. The penalty for noncompliance can be fines, and sometimes suspension.
********************************
If the puppy you are considering is registered with a registry other than AKC, be concerned and investigate it. There is no legitimate reason to use another registry, other than to "get around" AKC's regulations. Many of these "registries" are simply paper-mills for the puppy-mills, used by breeders who have lost their AKC privileges, or people who are breeding dogs who are not intended to be bred, and whose offspring cannot be registered with AKC. There is no "quality" control or concern about the lineage of the dogs they are willing to register...it's your money, if you are paying for a purebred Shih Tzu, the best place to start is with a puppy that has been registered with AKC by its breeder.

We are in the process of testing our adult dogs for the GENE that causes JRD in Shih Tzu. This test is only done by DOGENES in Canada Please visit their website at www.dogenes.com for more information. Thank you for all your hard work in finding this gene Dr. Whiteley!
The DNA testing done by AKC is for identification purposes only…don't be misled by breeders "implying" that their dogs are DNA tested "healthy" by AKC.
Our puppies are never sold to Pet Stores, Brokers, or Puppy-mills. People who buy puppies from Pet Stores or Brokers* *, are the reason most puppy-mills exist. Be sure to buy your life long friend from a reputable breeder...someone who cares enough to find a loving home for their own puppies.
**A Broker is anyone who sells puppies for someone else for a profit, or anyone who buys puppies (from anyone, but usually a puppy-mill) and resells them.
