Subject: Hello Cathryn & Susan!

I saw your new pups from Bentley (our Kimba's dad) on your website and I just fell in love with them!  I wanted you to know that we truly adore our Kimba (Bentley & Eja's pup) so much!  I think I baby him and favorite him a bit, but he is such a cuddlier that's its so easy to do!

I wanted you to know that we have come a long way since July when I last wrote you.  Kimba & Koda are very good friends now and get along very well.  Kimby is still the busy boy, and wants to play the most and the hardest, but I don't think Koda minds that much anymore.  Koda usually has a wet face by the time Kimba is done licking him (and the rest of us that he comes face to face with!).  He is such a kisser....I love how affectionate he is.  I took a few pic's on his first birthday in Nov, so I thought I would show you how his bite has come along.  It's really cute, he sometimes has his teeth show, but most of the time, his tongue is so long, you don't see an undershot at all.  I think he grew into it and his teeth are the straightest teeth I have ever seen!  He loves to sit with his tongue sticking between his teeth and it just makes everyone laugh..he's so adorable.  My groomer is always saying how adorable he is.  His coat is beautiful and full, and he is much lighter solid like creamy beige/gold.    Don't you love his long eyelashes too?

I just thought I would say hello and give you the latest.   I cant' imagine my life before Kimba came to live with us now!  I wish I could add another casan shih tzu to our lives, because I love Bentley's & Cassy's black mask gold female!!  I think Kimba has a lot of Bentley in him when I look at the tongue sticking out on your website! The one on your website front page is a beauty too...I just love looking at your photos and of course love the "baby" picture of kimba on there!  Thanks for including him...I always tell people he is on your website!  Hope you are both well and loving all your puppies!

Happy new Year!

Our Toni (Tessie X Bentley) is 6 months old now and still a bundle of energy. She's 9 lbs, but her bone structure is so light compared to Newman (Sissy X Zeus) (he's always been such a
sturdy boy!) that she feels much lighter.  Our son's Chihuahua, Rico, has
fallen madly in love with her - he cries whenever her name is mentioned,
and can't wait to visit. We think it's because he can be such a nasty little
dog, and Toni takes no nonsense from him - she fights right back. At any
rate, little Rico has stars in his eyes when she's near - you can almost
hear him crooning "Close to You" - and we try (quite unsuccessfully) not to
laugh.  She also can outrun Newman now - he has the decency to be
embarrassed by that - and is a champion leash tangler on walks.  So far
I've only fallen once after getting the leashes wrapped around my legs.  It was
at the beginning of the walk, and both of them were impatient that I spent
so long on the ground feeling sorry for myself when I should have been up
and going.
She loves to play with other dogs.  Initially she was
intimidated by Champ, the elderly Lab behind us, who is a special friend of
Newman's, but no more.  She especially likes a young chocolate Lab, Bailey,
who's one yard over.  We have a really dog friendly neighborhood, and our
two have plenty of playmates - 11 other dogs in a couple of blocks.   None,
of course, can begin to compare in personality or looks with our two CaSans
puppies! Our only difficulty is that the two of them look so much alike,
despite their sizes.  Toni has a slight under bite and a smaller frame, (I
think she looks like "Mitzi" Wheeler from your web site) as well as more
black in her tail and on her ears, and Newman has the wonderful shock of
white hair on his head, but we often have to do a double take.  Although
Toni looks adorable with a bow in her topknot, she emphatically does NOT
like to be brushed, so we plan to put her in a puppy cut like
Newman's -which will make identification even harder, I'm sure!  Their
personalities continue to be very different.  Our son calls Newman "Jelly
Dog" since he's so relaxed and calm.  We have several nicknames for
Toni -including "Wee Toni Cherish" - as in the whirling dervish. She tries
to chase Ernie, our Maine Coon cat, who remains unimpressed...
Ernie just jumps in his cat tree and looks down his nose at her.  She also has an interesting reaction to thunder - she barks at it!

She's still Daddy's little darling, and loves her special cuddle time with
Ron, but I get my share of kisses, too!  (And she's a champion kisser!)
Newman and Toni give us so much joy - we can't begin to imagine life
without them.  Thank you for our darlings.
With affection & gratitude,
Ron & Karen Larson

Susan and Cathryn,
You just won't believe how beautiful my little Bella (BabyDoll X Bentley) is!!!!  She is adorable with her black mask and mostly silver body.  I am not sure what her weight is at the moment, but will let you know when I send a picture.  She is so smart and lovable........we couldn't be happier together.......and I consider her potty trained as she asks me to go outside by whining or barking.  As soon as I can I will send a picture to you.
Bella is going in for her spay surgery January 19th.  I am going to miss her, but I know that she will be in good hands.  She will spend the night and part of the next day recuperating, so please say a little prayer for her and the veterinarian.
Thank you, again, for such a precious little cuddle bear.
Sincerely,
Janet Wilson

 Dear Susan and Cathryn,

I am attaching two pictures of Brinkley (EjaXBentley) with the hope she can join your

Hi Susan!  I just got off the phone with you and I just have to say that it feels as if I've known you for years.  That said, I want you to know that finding your website has been an answer to prayer...    I'm so happy, I can't express how overjoyed I am with thinking about getting these little guys in April when they're ready and I just want to thank you for being so kind and loving to me over the phone and for sending pictures of Babydoll's little girls out to me right away.  I believe that you and Cathryn are kindred spirits doing the jobs that you do, and I can't wait to meet you!  I'm sending the deposit for one of Babydoll's girls and for one of Niki's puppies--hopefully a boy :) to you tommorrow.  The only thing I can't believe is that Mike and I have waited as long as we have to do this!  Talk to you soon!  Thanks Again

Fondly,

Catheryn and Susan I am so sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you both, but I have had major problems with our camera computer downloading.  I finally believe I have it fixed and am so excited to share the pictures of our Magoo (TailorXJustice) with both of you.  I can't tell you enough how wonderful his disposition is!!  We are so thrilled to have him as a member of our family!!!  He brings a smile to our face each and every day whether it is his antics, socialization or his appetite.  Both my husband and I would recommend you to everyone.  Thanks so much for the loving care you give to your puppies because it definitely makes a difference.  We would never buy another pup from anyone but you.  I hope you enjoy the  pictures we have sent separately, as we treasure them.

Mary Rooney, February 9, 2006

Hi Susan :)

Tell Cathryn thank you for the pictures.  You both take great pictures :

We went to a get together last night, and of course I took pictures of our babies so that we could show them off.  Well anyway, people were asking us how we could adopt puppies over the internet without ever holding them or seeing them in person.  My answer was that once I talked to you all my worries were put to rest and it was a done deal.  From the moment I first spoke to you on the phone I knew that this was the way for us to go and from that point on we've been completely thrilled with the progression of this adoption.  We are so happy that our little furry babies have you and Cathryn to take care of them until they come home.  Thanks for everything!

Love, Angie

Hello Susan and Cathryn,

Hope this e-mail finds you both well.  We just wanted to let you know that Buster (GloryXCasey) and Gizmo (CassyXBentley) are doing great.  They have become buddies and play together constantly.  Getting Gizmo was wonderful for my mom and now we just wonder why we waited so long to bring your shih tzus into our family.  Attached please find a picture of 'our boys.'  You'll notice that both of their personalities seem to come out with our Buster being a bit more laid back at 9 months versus our constantly curious Gizmo at 4 months.  We can't thank you enough.  Hope you have a wonderful day!

Thanks again,
-Christine Fleming

I am sending a picture of my adoreable Bella (BabyDollXBentley), so you can see how beautiful she is!  She weighs 8.3 lbs and is precious!  We could not be happier!

She has been spayed, so if you would let me know where to send the invoice then you could send the AKC paperwork.

Thank you so much for my Bella………I absolutely love her!

Dear Susan and Cathryn,

I just wanted to update you on the love of the Wade household "Daisy" (EmmyXCasey)! She is just the cutest, sweetest, smartest dog that we have ever had. She is so spoiled she demands to be held and must be the center of the attention. When my husband sings to her she sings right along. She has become such an important part of the family and we feel like she has been ours forever. I am so glad that we were able to find your website and get such a sweetheart. I will never own any other breed again.... I visit your website frequently the pups are all adorable. I hope you are doing well. Take care and thanks!

Hi Susan and Cathryn,

We added Boomer (NikiXCasey) to our family in January 2005….our family will never be the same!  Boomer has added so much joy and laughter to our days.  He has a wonderful personality and couldn’t be sweeter.  Shortly before we received Boomer, my youngest son was diagnosed with Type I diabetes.  Looking back now, we realize how Boomer was just what we needed.  Having a puppy was an amazing release to be able to focus on something so loving.  Just when we think Boomer can’t get any cuter, he tips his head and melts our hearts even more...   Thanks so much,

Love, Karen Dunn and family

Hello Ladies!
Bonnie and I just wanted to let you know Molly (NikiXJustice) is doing very well so far and seems to be adjusting well!  We didn't leave Bonnie's house until about 8pm tonight so we got to spend a lot of time with her today.  Molly did have a BM in the car (on her pad) and seems to be peeing well at home.  She ate a couple times while we were there and was exploring  and playing when we left.  The funny thing was...our little Keebler (NikiXJustice) was either jealous or just had no idea what to do with a tiny puppy.  :)  She is so well socialized with other dogs (big and small) that it never occurred to me that when Molly would touch her she would look surprised and head the other direction. Cuddles (Bonnie's older one) on the other hand just watched Molly and sniffed her alot.  I am sure that Keebler will come around on her own though.  Bonnie is coming to our house on Wed. evening with Cuddles and Molly so we will see what Keebler does "on her own turf".  Molly is so dog gone cute...looks so much like Keebler when we brought her home.  I did get a chance to see Katie on your web page tonight.  She is very pretty!!  (I don't know how I missed her before)  Thanks again for bringing these 2 special little ones into all our lives...and if you ever need any references feel free to send them to me.  I will be keeping you up to date on both our girls!  Take Care!!

have.  I have 2 shih tzu's of my own and just love this breed.  When I arrived

Madeline.  It brings tears of sadness to my eyes as my heart goes out to the

Please extend our heartfelt sympathy to the Bender family for the loss of
their darling Madeline, a littermate of our Toni.  Our Newman was attacked
while on his leash in our front yard by vicious golden lab in our
neighborhood.  Fortunately, the lab had a heavy leather collar, and I was
able to pull him off Newman, who suffered just some bruising.  The owners
heard my scream and helped me, and subsequently turned the dog over to Lab
Rescue.  The terror of that day is still fresh in my mind after a year, and
I can only begin to imagine the Bender's grief and fury at this senseless
attack.  Our two CaSan's furbabies are the joys of our lives and look to us
for their protection.  Being helpless to save them would be a nightmare.  It
reminds us yet again that bad dogs come from bad owners.

Dear Susan & Cathryn,

I can hardly believe it's almost been a year since Issa (SydneyXCasey) has become a member of our family.  It seems just a few weeks ago we brought him home, but already we have a big boy (14#), housebroken, well-behaved yet still playful as ever, and so full of love. I am sure you know well, but we have been overwhelmed by the love our sweet puppy has brought to our home.  He goes to daycare two days a week, where he is a star pupil.  He loves everyone, including the resident kitty, and adapts well to new situations with a happy go lucky attitude.  He is fiercely protective of those he loves, and although there are much bigger dogs around, he never shirks his duty of protecting us from someone who isn't a member of our doggydaycare family!

So much of his wonderful disposition, I know, comes from all the love and attention you both gave him as a small puppy.  He is a special dog, it's true, but I certainly appreciate all the hard work you both put in to helping him become that way!

I'm including some pictures (we have lots!) that I hope you both will enjoy.  He has lightened significantly in color when he blew his puppy coat...you might night recognize him!  I hope you both are well, and once again, thank you so much for sharing Issa with us!

Fondly,
April

June 16, 2006

My Dear Susan and Cathryn,

Gil, Laura and I cannot thank you enough for the most beautiful gift, of our new baby, Dora Belle (MollyXJustice). You both are Heaven-sent to us. The very reason that I left  everything that had happened to our family to God. May He continue to bless  both of you for what you do to people like us who long for that un-conditional love of these fur babies.

You are just as great and beautiful as I imagined you to be. Yes, the feeling is mutual - it felt like I've known you forever.

Thank you so much for sharing the pictures with us - they will now be at Dora Belle's firsts, in her new photo album, including her baby pictures (which of course, sadly I did not have for my baby Duchess). NOTE from Casan's:  Duchess was purchased from PetLand who, unbeknownst to Edna,  bought her from a puppymill in MN, that at the time had over 700 breeding dogs.  Edna and her family spent thousands of dollars on chemotherapy in an attempt to save Duchess' life...

...Laura must have called me on my cell three times, excited as can be. I told her to go to the store to pick up a "welcome cake" for Dora.

We went straight to the backyard soon as we got home and entered through the patio door. Laura had tears in her eyes just as I did. We rolled all over the grass, lots of pictures, sat in the swing, went inside the house to have more pictures of her cake. She explored the house, inspected every corner, then headed back to the patio door again and wanted to go outside.

Tomorrow, I will take Dora Belle for a ride to get her pet blessing  from our priest first thing in the morning. Then I will take care of health insurance.

THANK YOU AGAIN FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS!

 We Love you,

 Edna, Gil and Laura

(Laura's glad you liked the cake she made - she makes pies and cakes from scratch, not from the box like I do).

Susan and Kathryn -

Just wanted to let you know that Mozart (PippinxCasey) is doing great - a testament
to his good breeders.  He sleeps like a champ and he's very sweet and
playful.  He seems to be eating more everyday.  I guess he's getting
more comfortable.   Everybody loves him.  My husband says "it's
good to be Mozart".  We'll forward some pictures soon.

Hi Susan

Harley (PippinXCasey) is doing phenomenal!  We’ve been going outside every night with him and working on the word “come”  He is very smart!  We started by giving him little Eukanuba treats.  Sometimes we give lots of cuddles and other times treats every time he comes to us.  You should see him bolt to us when we say “Harley come”  he’s so adorable!   He loves all his toys especially the little dragon you and Cathryn sent home with him.  I’ve also walked him down the street a little ways on a harness and leash.  I’ve only done it once and he did very good, just a little more interested in biting the leash than walking.  That’s to be expected.  He really is a little character.

 Talk to you soon.

Sincerely,

Cindy

Susan,

This is Gizmo's mommy.  We got him last August, almost 1 yr. ago from you.  He was from Glory X Casey.  We LOVE him sooo much!  He is just a wonderful little guy.  He is so full of life, love & kisses.  We love him dearly and can't imagine life without him!  I look at your site often just to check things out and feel still a part of his roots.  I am very curious how Livvy's ( X Cooper) puppies turned out!  What colors you got.  I think Cooper is a cute guy too!  He seems to be darker than Gizmo.  I keep Gizzy's hair a little longer so it stays somewhat golder.  I couldn't imagine trimming him low, as I keep my older female.  Someday I want to buy another cutie from you, but think right now my little guy might be somewhat jealous.  He gets sooo much attention from us all and doesn't like it when Minni (my older female) gets too much, but he is MY cute little guy.  He has stayed on the smaller side and I like that.  Since Cooper is a product of Glory, do his pups seem small?

Hope all is well with the two of you and your families.  I pray for your health often.  Thanks so much for listening and for all the beautiful puppies you bring into this world.  Even though they ALL aren't mine, just looking at them on your website brings joy to my heart.  Maybe because I know how much my little Gizmo brings joy to me!  He is the BEST !  (My kids tell me I baby him too much! ha ha)

Can't wait to see those baby pictures!

Subject  Toni (and Newman, of course!)

Toni (Tessie X Bentley), our little bundle of boundless exuberance, is now a year old.  She's a
scant 9 lbs. and a wiry little tomboy.  She so loves to play ball that we
are the ones who must stop the game - her tongue will be hanging out of one
side of her mouth while the ball is in the other side. We can no longer use
the word "ball" around her.  We tried "round thing" until she caught on to
that, and it's now known as "the spherical object" - maybe the 6 syllables
will keep her clueless for a while longer. The "Wow! Factor" applies to her
very well - whether it's a bird, a butterfly, she meets it with endless
enthusiasm.  She tends to be a bit bossy - when Newman (Sissy X Zeus) isn't going as fast
as she'd like on our walks she'll grab his leash in her mouth to hurry him
along.  She also uses him as furniture sometimes - in order to see something
at a distance, she will put her front paws on his back and stand up - as
well as draping herself over him if he happens to be in her chosen spot.
Newman is like Charlie Brown - he looks at me resigned, with an almost
audible "Sigh!"  Her coat has lightened so much that telling them apart is
no longer a problem - she's the palest champagne color with silver on her
ears and tail.  Ron calls her his little platinum blonde.  She loves to
cuddle and be cuddled - is a true lap dog, and still a champion kisser.
Everywhere I go, inside and out, I have a furry entourage.  Newman has
become a bit overprotective of me lately, and we're working on that.  If Ron
tries to wake me by shaking my shoulder, Newman will growl.  He hates
fireworks, though we've desensitized him to thunder.  Ron believes that
Newman sees fireworks as a threat to me - when we took him out on the 4th of
July, he ran towards the sound, barking, then back to me, to stand barking
again.  To Toni, fireworks, like everything else, are fascinating, though we
imagine that might change as she gets older.
One of the most wonderful traits of this breed is their confidence.  They
face the world with their heads and tails high, certain that they'll be
petted and admired.  If someone passes by without acknowledging them, they
look briefly astounded at that person's bad taste, then keep on prancing.
Although Ron and I have had dogs throughout almost all of our 36 year
marriage, and loved every one of them, none can compare with our two CaSan's
babies for intelligence, personality, and sheer delight! If I thought I
could handle more than 2 leashes at once, we'd have a houseful.

Affectionately,

Hi guys!  I just saw all those adorable puppies!  I thought maybe you'd enjoy an updated picture of Georgie (Molly XBentley) who is just about 2 1/2 yrs old.  He is SOOOOOOOO wonderful.  Since moving to NJ last year, we gave up on the full coat as we now live on 5 acres that back up to a state park, and we have 300 apples trees on the property.  The deer love the apple trees and so they are in our yard and we feared that Georgie might get a tick and we would not be able to find it in all that hair.  He seems happy with his new hairdo, but we were all a little disappointed to have to let it go.

Anyway, I hope you like this new picture of such a wonderful boy.  Did I mention he is VERY smart and VERY sweet.  A true joy!

Comments: Just a quick update on MAX (SydneyXBentley), the adorable puppy we adopted earlier this year.

He is frisky, healthy, and loves to play with our son Alexander.

I will foward a photo of him so you can post it on your past Casan puppies page.

He adds so much love, and gets into so much mischief that he fills our day.

By the way, you gave us a squeky toy (a green monster looking thing) for him to play with.  It is his favorite.  And, it is just about worn out.   Any chance you remember where you got it?

On Dec. 31, 2005 I met you in Indiana to pick up my new little Shih tzu (Leelee and Bentley's little gold female).  I've attached a current picture of her for you to see.  She will be one year in October and has reached her adult size of a whopping 7lbs!  She is such a joy to have!  She completed our family and I'm very happy I found your website.  We could not have found another little girl that would have been any better for us.

Please feel free to add this picture to your gallery.  I love looking at the pictures and would love to see her on there.

Take care and thanks again for such a wonderful little gift!

Hello...

My name is Sheri & I am writing to you from a suburb of Dayton, Ohio.  I am originally from Ft. Wayne, IN so I am
familar with your location and its not that far away, my mom
still lives in Ft. Wayne.

Our family has been surfing the net and researching pups lately - I was actually interested in small breeds - looked into yorkies but have concluded they can potentially have a lot of health issues but I love the size of them.  Looked at the new designer dogs - Teddy Bears - which I'm sure you are aware of - is a blend of Bichon's and Shihtzu - these dogs along with the Shihtzu can be 8-12 # at adult weight which is a bit larger than I was looking for but I think I'm okay with that.  So finally in all my internet surfing I came across your site and I must say I was taken in by the difference.  I appreciate your integrity and obvious best interest of the pups. We want a female, smallest in size as possible and as far as characteristics we're still trying to figure out the color combo we'd want.  So any input, education, etc you want to pass along will be appreciated.
thanks
sheri

Hi Susan,

Just took some pictures of Harley.  He's 4 and a half months now.  He had his second haircut yesterday and we got a different color puppy!  He is fantastic, adorable, lovable, cute most wonderful pet in the whole wide world!  Harley has become a true blue Packer fan.  When they score and everyone in the rooms cheers, Harley barks.  He's so smart.  He's close to 8lbs now and just could not be any cuter.  Thank you thank you thank you.

Enjoy the pictures.  Talk to you again soon.

Sincerely,

Hi Cathryn & Susan,
Sorry we didn't get an e-mail to you yesterday, but Wally (Katie x Casey) is doing great!!  He is eating and drinking well!  We bought him the Eukanuba puppy food and mixed with the food you gave us and he loves it!  Ralphie (NikiXCasey) is so gentle with him and instinctly knows Wally is delicate.  We are making sure to show him the same amount of attention.  Late last night we opened up the green squeeky toy you sent with Wally and Ralphie has not put it down since, literally he slept with it in our bed!  He loves it!  It seems like Wally's stool is firming up each time he goes, so hopefully that will continue.  I do have one question.  When we are at work, should we keep Wally in a cage or should we leave him out in the kitchen with Ralphie?  We work close to home so I know we will be coming home to check on him.  He is using the piddle pads, so is he safe with Ralphie?  Let us know what you think.  We are so pleased and are excited to watch him grow!  Hope to hear from you soon!

Hi... we are the Webb family and we have just fallen in love with your little female (katiexcasey).  We would LOVE to have her, but...we are in California:(  We read on your site that you do not ship, BUT if you ever make exceptions can you please write me back...if not, my daughters and I just had to tell you how cute we all think she is....

Take care,

October 6, 2006

Hi Susan and Cathryn!  How are you both?  It's been a long time since I last wrote, I know.  I see from the websight that you've been very busy with many litters.  Those puppies are sure adorable and very hard to resist.  I hope the remaining ones that you have go to new homes fast before I cave in and tell you I want one!!!

Well, it's one year today that we brought little Danny Boy (LivvyXJustice) home.  Can you believe it?  It seems like we've always had him.  He is such a good little guy and just so fun.  He has quite the personality and a character as well.  I just couldn't imagine not having him.  We were on vacation in September and took both of them with us to Minnesota to see my cousins.  They did well on the long car ride, though Danny didn't sleep at all.  He just sat there!  So it was and adventure for all of us.  He now thinks he's a Lab or some hunting dog as he loves chasing the rabbits!  He knows all their hiding spots and that's the first thing he checks out when he's outside.  When they both chase the bunnies, they hop like them, too.  Trying, though, to get a cute picture of the 2 of them together is quite a task.

Laura sent me the picture of Darby (LivvyXJustice) with out the topknot and I saw it on the cover page.  He really looks cute.  He and Danny sure do look like twins.  We're going to try and get together again, but now it will have to be indoor play dates.

I hope you both are well and just wanted to write and say hi and that I was thinking about you both.  When I take Danny in for his shots and check up I'll let you know how he did.   Take care and talk to you soon.  Attached is a recent picture.  Hope you like it.

Just wanted to touch base with you.  Harley (PippinXCasey) was neutered on October 3rd.  He did wonderfully, hardly skipped a beat.  He was just under 9 lbs that day.  He's grown some more since then.  He's absolutely just a perfect puppy.  He hasn't had an accident in the house either for two weeks, we think he's got that down as well.  He's so smart.  He's even getting those two kitties to loosen up a little.  Bandit still hisses at him but hangs around more upstairs and loves to taunt him from a chair. Radar actually plays a little with him but when she's had enough of his ruff-housing she too lets him know with a few swats.

In early August I fractured my left ankle.  I slipped on the wet grass as I tried to stop and pick up Harley who was next me.  So that put a damper on our walks for awhile.  I've been watching your website and following the process of all the new puppies.  I don't know how you do it, they are so cute!  I still think we have the cutest one though, what a personality!  Harley loves the labs next door and plays with them often.  Beamer is only a few months older than Harley and they've really bonded.  I love to just sit and watch them interact.

Hope everything is well with both of you and your families.  Harley sends smoochies and lots of love.  Thanks again for our new baby Harley.

Sincerely,

Cindy Nate

Hope you ladies are doing well!  Was back in Iowa last weekend and met a vet from Omaha who took down your website so if you get any calls from Omaha, that's why.  We took Chaco (SydneyxBentley) with us on the 7 hr drive and he was great--everyone loves him!  He was a devil for Halloween and he walked with us the whole time - he's in great shape w/ 2 walks a day and romps with his best neighbor shih tzu girlfriend every few days.  We really got a winner-thank you!

Susan and Catherine,

We want to thank you for bringing little Phoenix (GloryXCasey)into our life!  He is a bundle full of energy but we are enjoying every minute of him!  He is loving the outdoors (we have a nice size yard for him), he loves playing and every night he has been falling asleep very easily.  He had his 2nd set of shots this past Saturday (this he did not like).

Thanks again for taking such great care of our little guy!  I will try to send you pictures every few months!

Fondly,

JoEllen, Steve and Baby Phoenix

Susan and Catherine…Hello ladies from the heartland of the country, Tulsa, Oklahoma…I hope all is well with you and your families…Just wanted to pass along a couple of pictures of Toby (CassyXJustice)…When you view them please remember he was the runt of the litter!!  He is approaching 1 yr and 8 months of age now and he is absolutely perfect!  Handsome and an A+ personality!!!  Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect friend….Rest assured he is getting lots of love and he, with his buddy Monty, are enjoying life to the fullest.  Everywhere we go the ladies have to stop and say “He’s sooooooooooo cute” for which I reply “Thank you, and the dog ain’t bad either!!!”  J

Warmest Regards,

Every week I think I'll get a note off to you and then the days fly by.  Brody is doing very well, she is so friendly and outgoing she can't wait to say hi to everyone and thinks they all want to see her as well.  Of course, everyone thinks she's adorable.  She had her first grooming visit about 10 days ago - a challenge for my groomer because Brody's so busy, but she looked adorable afterward and put with things well.  She has been staying in her kennel all night for a couple of weeks now and is very playful and busy.  She is responding to some basic obedience commands and loves to go to puppy school.  Last week there was a nine week old male shih-tzu at puppy school, black with a white chest.  I could not believe it!  They had so much fun together and looked just adorable.  I have been spending quite a bit of time supervising her time with Keifer.  He has been so very tolerant of her.  Because of her high energy level, it has been a little more difficult for him.  She will just run at him and jump on him over and over.  He puts up with a lot and then tells her enough.  She'll finally lay down beside him and look up at me like aren't I a good girl and then she'll roll over on her back.  It's pretty cute.  I wouldn't say Keifer loves her yet, but she has crawled all around him on his bed and drinks beside him out of his water bowl at times.  Last week she stole a toy he  had picked up to chew on.  What a little spitfire she is.  My friend Vicky said Brody is exactly the kind of puppy she would want - full of personality.  We love her so much.

Hope things are going well with you.  I hear from Lori regularly and we're working on a date for me to drive up so Brody can play with Chloe and Clementine.  That will be great fun.

Again, thank you for our little girl.

Just a quick update on Bentley (MollyXBeamer).  I have attached a pic with him in the jacket that you gave us and one of him snuggled in his bed.

He is doing well.  He Loves EVERYONE that comes here and the neighbors !  You did a great job with him.  He is so sweet and lovable.  He is finally starting to get a clue on the house breaking ( he is much harder than Bella was) - but I think that from others I have talked to that male puppies are typically harder than females.  But he's getting it.

He loves the cats, especially Smudge and tries to cuddle with her. ( she is treating him like her kitten, cleaning him and all that goes with that)

Hope all is well for both of you and that you had a good holiday.

Thanks again

I hope you both had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  We certainly have a lot to be thankful for this year!!  I will attach a few pictures of Wrigley (CassyXJustice).  I am sending the coat you bought him back so that another puppy might enjoy it.  He has quickly outgrown that one and is wearing a new one that he likes to call his bomber jacket!  I will send a cd full of pictures with the coat.  That is much quicker than having to download them all.

He is the sweetest and best puppy either one of us have ever known.  He has the greatest personality in the world.  He loves to play, loves to have cuddle time, and really loves to be outside.  We go on lots of walks and he LOVES the porch.  This weekend he discovered a soccer ball and has decided that no ball is too big to play with.

He is trained and has no accidents and sleeps through the night right between us.  He is not eating as much lately and we will talk to our vet about that.  He has an appointment today.  He gets very congested and the vet has him on some Benedryl which helps a lot.  He is such a happy puppy and loves life!!  We can not thank you enough.

He & Sadie play so great together. We've wanted another one of your puppies ever since we got Sadie & are so, so happy that Georgie is part of our family. We'll send you pics ASAP... Thanks for our beautiful boy. I didn't think I could love a doggie as much as Sadie, but now we have two babies to love equally. Cathy

Hi Cathryn & Susan,

Happy Holidays to you from California.  We just wanted to wish you the best for the New Years and update you on Kimba (EjaXBentley).  He is so adorable and just celebrated his 2nd birthday... He is certainly the most affectionate shih tzu I have ever had, he just can't stop licking everyone.  He has made a beautiful addition to our home and is just content as long as he is with Koda (who has come to accept him and play with him (but never really NEEDS him like Kimba does Koda!)

I always check out your website and fall in love with your other puppies.  Do you still have Bentley, but are not breeding him?  Bentley and his pups remind me so much of my Kimba and they have sweet faces.

I hope you and Susan are well and enjoying your new litter!

Our Best wishes,

Debra & JD

Hi Catherine & Susan,

I got a puppy from you April 2002.  Thor (MollyXMurphy) will be 5 march 9, 07  He is doing great and very spoiled.  He goes to work with me everyday.
He made his own job!  He is our version of the Wal-mart  Greeter.  He even made to local paper!  I don't have a recent picture of Thor but, he is getting groomed next week and I try to send one then.

I found your web site and was looking at the puppies you have for adoption.  They are great.

Well, just wanted to say Hi and I'll picture of thor ASAP!

Comments: I just want to say that anyone considering getting a 2nd shih tzu should definitely go ahead and do it.  I was not sure when I got my 2nd, but it has been the best decision of my life.  One shih tzu was great, but two are a constant source of delight to our family and to each other.   They nap together, play together, and are just sooo much fun!  If you've been thinking about getting a 2nd one, but feel uncertain about it (as I was),  getting a 2nd Casan's baby will be the best move you ever make.  They are so sweet, happy, well adjusted, and intelligent that 2 are definitely even better than 1!

Catherine I was just curious about the new litter with chocolate puppies.  I would love for Daisy (EmmyXCasey) to have a sister someday, and I have been watching your website for new puppies. Do you have any pictures of her and is she already sold?  I hope you all are doing well.  I check your website all of the time.  Daisy is just wonderful.  Happy Holidays!

Hi Cathryn and Susan,

We wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.  The new puppies are soooo cute!  Hope they find loving homes soon.  We are certainly very happy with our babies, Duchess (SydneyXCasey) and Baby Boomer (LeeLeeXJustice).  They are both doing well and totally running our household.  Boomer was such a good choice.  He is the sweetest, most loving little ( 22 lbs.) guy and Duchess always thinks she is a Princess instead of a Duchess.  She is very much a girly little dog and Boomer is all boy!  It is amazing how much their actions mimic real, human kids.  As you can tell we love them very much.

Again, Merry Christmas and the best to your families.

Hi Cathryn and Susan!
We hope this finds you and yours happy and well.
Hope you like the special holiday picture of our two boys (Obi (NikiXJustice) is on the right).

Obi is (hopefully) all grown up now, although I think his coat isn't done growing out quite yet!  He weighs somewhere around 13 lbs we think.  He continues to be a happy, healthy puppy and we love him sooo much!  We are especially happy that he is FINALLY completely housebroken.
We had quite a bit of snow last week and it was Obi's first time seeing an actual accumulation on the ground.  He loved it!  Obi and Merlin ran all around our big back yard, putting their noses down in the snow and when they looked up there was snow all over their faces.
We can't imagine life without either of our little furry babies.  The 'boys' will have several presents to open this Christmas... it should be a lot of fun!
Happy Holidays!

Hi  Catherine and Susan,

I wanted to give you a Charley update. What can I say other than he is great and we love him dearly. He is quite a digger! Is that characteristic of the breed? He loves to dig the sofa in the family room and it's OK with me as it is a fake suede of sorts and it doesn't get harmed and he doesn't get hurt. My son suggested we get him a sandbox so he can dig something that actually moves so his self-esteem will be preserved!

He still has the cuddle puppy you sent home with him and loves it...    The thing about Chuckles (my nickname for him) is that he is a VERY peaceful dog. When nature comes along he just observes. His favorites are geckos and bees. He will just sit and watch them or just want to sniff them. I think he is a Buddhist like his Tibetan ancestors.

If you recall, we had the pet shop puppy that died a week after we got him. Hey, did I tell you that there is a karate studio where that Petland once stood?? I feel rather good about that and of course the owner can never own or operate a petshop in GA ever again. If I hear that he ever tries,...

We have been thinking in terms of getting Chuckles a baby sister and I notice a cute little white pawed red/gold female of LucyLu and Casey on your web page. Can you tell me more about her? I hope she is still available...

If we end up getting her or another, we will all come along and we will bring Charley.

Cathryn & Susan,
Here are 3 pics of Thor. Hard to believe he was the smallest of the litter. He is doing really good. Lovable, friendly--doesn't know a stranger. Thor is very protective of me. I of course think he is great and love to spoil him.!! My Grandkids love their Thor. My parents love him and if he doesn't get to go see them of Sunday nite He pouts! He knows when we go there. Had to believe that he'll be 5 March 9. What is really funny is that my Granddaughter will be 4 on March the 9th also. Well just thought you might like to see these pics and get a update on Thor. Wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Deb Ramesy

Hi Susan and Cathryn,

Merry Christmas from the Nates'.  As you can see Harley (PippinXCasey) has grown into a big boy.  He is absolutely without a doubt the most lovable, happy go lucky puppy in the whole wide world!  We all love him sooooo much.  He brings so much happiness to us all.  Our son Ryan moved home a few weeks ago and he has taught Harley lots of new tricks.  Harley is so smart.  I know you hear that all the time as I keep up with the email posts on your website but Harley is really special!!!  Susan you remember when I applied for a Casan puppy I wanted a female, and you talked to me about the male side of the breed, I could not be any happier with our little boy, he definitely is all you described and more.  I love him so much.

Hope this finds you both happy and in good health.  Have a very Happy New Year from our family to yours!

Sincerely,

Hi Susan and Catherine:

Well, Jackson has cut loose this morning and is playing like a holy terror!  He now acts like he's been with us all of his life.  Maggie is just a dear and she is playing like mad too.  I did want to let you know that we took them both to our vet today and Maggie has swollen glands and a slight case of tonsillitis  and our vet put her on an antibiotic.  Thought you should know in case other puppies or adults catch it.  The vet said they are both little dolls and although Maggie is tiny, she is perfect except for the nostrils, which she too agreed will likely clear on their own.  We are so happy with our new kids.  Lilly did sleep in bed with Mom, Dad, Jackson and Maggie last night, although she stayed on my right side and away from the babies between Mom and Dad!!!  We're making progress!!!  Thank you so much for our babies, we love them so already we can't imagine not having them.  Sandy and Norm Cagle

December 29, 2006

I can always spot a Bentley-sired pup in your photo gallery because they all have such sweet, handsome faces (like our Chaco!).

We could not have a better boy than our Chaco-he is well-suited to us and we to him.  The Lord gave me two beautiful black-haired boys to care for!

We will be celebrating Chaco's adoption day on Feb 3.  He seems to weigh 10 lbs but we don't go to the vet until April.  He has some platinum silver in his tail and a streak of it down both ears and some gray on his bottom and hind legs so I guess Dad's DNA is making its presence known.  He has lightened up and sometimes it seems like his coat has a brown tint to it.  But his white chin, chest and paws are what set him apart.

I have attached some photos of my boys.  The one shot of Chaco in the kitchen is with his best girl shih tzu eating puppy ice cream on his birthday.  In another photo you can see them "dancing".  I love the photo where the boys are together sleeping on the couch.

Dear Susan and Cathryn,

Just a quick note to let you know that we enjoyed meeting you and appreciated that you came half way.  All the pups are beautiful, but we think we made the right choice.  Bindi slept about half the way home.  She quickly explored and adjusted to her home, although Mopsy has been stand-offish.  At first Bindi seemed afraid when Mopsy barked, but now she doesn't seem at all bothered.  We think that Mopsy was/is a little afraid of the pup, which is understandable if she can't see her too well.  Mopsy had a bad night last night, and Bindi seems to know to leave her alone today.  We are giving Mopsy lots of love and letting her lead, as you suggested.

Bindi slept the last two nights pretty well in a crate in our room and with me in bed.  I get her out when she cries; she goes lots of kisses and settles back into sleep, and then I put her back in her bed.  The first night I only did than once; last night about three times.  She is on my lap now as I type, and Mopsy is asleep in the doorway to the study.  Bindi is also doing well with house-breaking.  I know that Bindi is so well-adjusted because she was so loved to begin with.  Thank you for our baby.  I will write more as time goes on and send pictures.
Peace and All Good! Marjorie

Dear Susan,

I am attaching the statement for Max's neutering which took place
last week. He is doing fine. It's hard to believe that we've had him
for three months! He's sleeping all night and understands where he is
to relieve himself very well, but still has accidents. We are taking
him to an obedience school at Petsmart where he has three female
friends who are all quite a bit bigger than he is. He really enjoys
the class and everyone loves him. He draws attention wherever he
goes. We're very happy with him. I check your site periodically and
see so many cute puppies. I hope you are all doing well.

Sincerely,
Susan Rider

I just love your website, I must check it 5 times a day.  Hi, It's me, Mary Hinkley, the one that's waiting to adopt hopefully in May.  I love the new picture tonight, the one with the 2 black and whites on the stairs.  The one on the right looks like my precious Nicky and the one on the left looks like my parents baby Ziggy.  I haven't talked to you lately, I've had another horrible loss.  As if it wasn't hard enough to lose Nicky 3 days after Christmas, my Dad's dog Ziggy (Nicky's brother) is now gone also.  He started having problems just 3 days after we lost Nick.  We took him up to Michigan State Sunday 1/21 because he was having problems breathing and I thought like Nick they'd fix him up and he'd come home for a while, but that didn't happen.  After 3 days they had his heart stable and he should have been okay, but something just wasn't right.  He couldn't leave the oxygen cage long enough for any further tests but they think he had a brain tumor because of the way he was acting.  So Wednesday 1/24 my husband and I went up and we put him to sleep.  It was so horrible.  My love for Nicky was so much deeper, but to have to make that decision especially when just  a month earlier he was fine was even harder.  My husband was devistated.  My Dad hints to get another dog now and the last of our shih tzu's Benji (age 7) is so lonely, but I still have to wait.  We are doing everything to make Benji the center of attention.  Why is life so hard???  Norm and Sandy Cagle keep bugging us to get one now saying they'll watch it when we go on our trip in April, but I still have to wait.  I am so excited, but still not ready.  Thanks again for the changes in your site so often. I've fallen in love with a few of them, but I know I'll be ready in the spring.  Do you still think they'll be a litter ready for homes in May?  Mary

Susan & Catherine,

Doug and I wanted write to tell you how much we are enjoying Cooper (LivvyXCooper).  He is the most playful and loving puppy you can imagine.  Morgan (our 14-year old) still doesn't quite know how to take him.  He bouncies all around her until she takes a snip, then he runs off and finds something/one to play with.

We wanted to send you a few pictures of Cooper to show you how he has grown.  Please feel free to post any you like on your webpage.

Again, thank you for being such wonderful and loving breeders.  The trip from Texas to pick up Cooper was more than worth it.  He is wonderful.

This is Tricia from Columbus.  I got a new email address, so please feel free to respond to me here.  I probably won't check the columbus.rr.com account anymore.

I have to tell you that I have been doing some research, visiting other breeders sites, and talking to some friends about what we have talked about so far, and your website, etc.  I feel really confident about getting our new baby from you!  I can see by reading your feedback and guest book that Casan's is the right place to get our baby!  As a matter of fact, I do not think we want to wait until summer anymore.  Will the gold and white male from Gracie x Dexter be available to come home around the 1st week of April?  That is when my Spring Break is so I could be home with him that whole first week.  If you think he would be a good match for us (playful yet easy going), maybe we can talk about holding him?

Our girls, Madelyn (9 next month) and Paige (6 1/2), and I go on your site just about everyday.  Our whole family is so excited!  We talk about what we will name our puppy just about everyday.  I got the girls some children's books about shih tzu's and they look at them all of the time!  They are really surprising me with how much they want to know about the breed so they can be very good big sisters!

Susan, my husband, Vinko, has to be out of town for the day next Saturday, (February 17th) so I was wondering if the girls and I can drive out to IN to meet you and see your little ones?  We talked about setting up a home visit, and now that we might move up our big day, I was hoping we could do it soon.  We could also come on the 18th if that's better.

Cathryn, I'm looking forward to talking with you too.  You do such a nice job with your website.  It is the most genuine, puppy-centered site I've looked at.

Thanks again!

Cathryn and Susan:

We were wondering if you had pictures of our babies with their littermates and Mom.  I'm making a baby book for each of them, and would love to have a pictures of them each with their Mom's and littermates.  We also wanted to know how many puppies, male and female, were in each of their litters.

Update......Your Jackson is a  kleptomaniac!!.....he steals everything he can get his mouth and paws on and runs like a demon to hide it in his bed.  If ever we can't find anything, we look in Jackson's bed.   He took Norm's cell phone the other day and said he was trying to call his Mommy Cathryn and Mommy Susan to say hello.    He just has the coolest personality - we love him to death.

Gypsy Rose is the fiesty one of the bunch.  Jackson and Benny gang up on her and will get her down.... but she turns the tables everytime, taking them each to task and  beating them up.  Her growling and barking sounds like she is the meanest dog on earth and will tear their heads off.....then she turns around and kisses them.  What a meany!!!

Ben - what can I say??  This is the gentlest, sweetest, most loving boy I've ever seen.  Benny doesn't like to be alone for a second.  He has to be within touch length of either Norm or me at all times.  He loves playing with the gang, and his toys.  Our Lilly just loves Ben because he is so calm and gentle.  Lilly and Ben like to sleep curled up together.  What a precious boy...his problems don't matter to us and we will take the best care of him....just like all of our tzus.

We have gone on the site for "Poochie Bells" which I learned about from another friend who has shih tzus.  It hangs on our door that goes outside and Gypsy learned within 1 day to ring the bell when she has to go potty.  Jackson just thought it was a new toy initially but he too is now ringing the bell to potty.  Benny hasn't gotten the connection yet, but he is only 6 days into housebreaking so I'm sure he will learn.  These Poochie Bells are very cool...especially if you are in the other end of the house when a baby has to go....you hear the bell, go to the door, and either Gypsy or Jackson is waiting at the door to potty.  What a help so there are not accidents because Mom or Dad didn't pay close enough attention.

Gypsy is going in Monday, 2/19 to be spayed.  I know it's about 2 weeks early but Susan says they tend to go into heat right at 6 months so we thought we'd do it now.  I will let you know when she gets through it.  Benny will be next in a couple of weeks and then Jackson last.

We are so thankful we found you, Cathryn and Susan.  We couldn't have found better babies anywhere and the care and loving you gave these babies shows everyday.  We only hope we are worthy of these wonderful creatures.  Sandy and Norm Cagle

Hello!

We have celebrated a second year with Scooby and I received the best gift of all – “thanks” from my Mother! I wanted to do something for my Mother when my Father passed away, so through a recommendation from my neighbor Jackie, I contacted you. It is now two years later and my Mother said, she does not know what she would ever do without Scooby – that is the best thanks I could have ever received. He is such a good buddy for my Mom!

Susan,

We absolutely love Max. He is so laid back and loves to snuggle.
He and Jack have bonded and are thoroughly enjoying each other.
It's funny, we kept saying he was the same age as Jack, when in fact
he's 4 weeks younger. : ) I wish we had come to you right from the beginning.
Max is a wonderful addition to our family. He's gorgeous and our whole
family loves him. He's the best birthday/anniversary/Valentines day gift
I've ever gotten. : ) Jack and Max are both going to the groomer this Saturday.
I will send you some pictures. : )

Hugs and many blessings to you and your family.

Hi Susan and Catherine,
I just wanted to thankyou for your time. I filled out a puppy aplication in Febuary for a solid chocolate puppy. You contacted me to offer a pretty brown and cream female. We have decided to wait for a solid colored puppy, but I just wanted to thank you for your time. It is obvious you both take great care in placing your pups. Thanks again,
Stephanie Allen

Susan & Cathryn,

I wanted to send over a picture of our newest member of the family and his sister.  We decided to name him Drama, although I think that only Marci and I really "get it."  While his name may not be a big hit, the little guy certainly is popular and a lot of fun to be around.  He and Zoe still play fight all the time and it gets out of ha
